Rig Interface MK2
(C) 2023 M. Konstapel https://meezenest.nl/mees
As an amateur radio operator I like to make contacts all over the world. Besides voice (or phone), I frequently operate digital modes like JS8 or FT8. In my shack I use a bulky home made interface, which I named "Rig Interface". It works perfectly well, but as I plan to do POTA, or Parks On The Air, I need something more portable. I could buy a commercial device, but where's the fun in that? It is time for an updated design. It is time for "Rig Interface MK2".
Design
The interface connects the audio from and to the radio, the PTT and KEY signals as well as the CAT control to the computer via one USB cable. All signals are galvanically isolated to prevent ground loops.
Features
- Audio interface.
- CAT interface: designed for a Yaesu FT-817ND, but should work on any rig with a serial CAT interface.
- PTT and KEY.
- Galvanic isolation.
- Only one USB cable to computer.
Files
- KiCAD: all the original design files made in KiCad 5.1.8. Also 1:1 pdf files of the pcb designs for toner transfer.
- doc : all the original files for the build document.
